Selous Game Reserve is Africa’s largest game reserve and one of favorite game viewing areas in Africa. Covering a total area of about 54,000 square kilometers, is amongst the largest protected areas in Africa located in the south of Tanzania.
It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982 due to the diversity of its wildlife and undisturbed nature. Selous boasts Tanzania’s largest population of elephant as well as large number of lions, leopard, African hunting dogs, buffalo and Hippo. Species commonly seen are bushbuck, red and blue duikers, eland, hartebeest, hyena, giraffe, Oryx, reedbuck, impala, waterbuck and zebra. Yellow baboon and vervet and blue monkey are always common sight while families of black and white colobus may sometimes be seen moving from tree to tree. The bird-life in the Selous is prolific and the 400 species recorded including the globally threatened wattled crane and the corncrake.
DAY 1: DAR ES SALAAM - SELOUS GAME RESERVE
Pick up from Airport or Hotel in Dar es Salaam, and begin drive down south of Dar es Salaam to Selous Game Reserve, the drive shall take 4 to 5 hours. You will arrive in time for lunch, at around 16h00 in the evening depart for adventurous and romantic evening sunset boat safari along the great Rufiji River to spotting hippos, crocodiles and birds, and enjoying the spectacular sundown. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge or tented Camp.
DAY 2 & 3: EXPLORATION OF SELOUS GAME RESERVE
After early breakfast depart for full day game drive in a 4x4 modified safari vehicle with a professional guide, in the Selous Game Reserve exploring the game in the surrounding areas, from your seat on an open-roofed vehicle, a comfortable and privileged journey through the wild African bush. You may expect to see any of the major African great favorite mammals, including elephant, giraffes, lions, buffalo, zebra and even the rare African Wild Dog. picnic lunch shall be provided in the mid-day where by your guide will select a location with shade and water nearby to watch animals coming to drink - a place with a clear view all round so that no predator can creep up hidden. Before end of the day return to the lodge and the rest of the evening will be spent at your own leisure Dinner and overnight at the Safari lodge or tented camp.

DAY 4: SELOUS – MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK
After early morning breakfast we will leave Selous with a picnic lunch to enjoy on our a game drive on the way to Mikumi National Park which is nestled between the Uluguru Mountains to the northeast, and the Rubeho Mountains, Udzungwa Mountains and Rift Valley escarpment to the southwest. The landscape here is beautiful and the wildlife prolific. You may expect to see animals like elephant, giraffe, zebra, eland, kudu, wildebeest, antelope, lion, leopard, and an amazing range of colorful birds. Overnight at the Safari Lodge or Tented Camp.
DAY 5: MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK
Full day of game drive around Mikumi National Park. The park is very rich in varieties of bird species as well as large numbers of giraffes, buffaloes and elephants and close to the water holes also lions, leopards and hippos. Moreover, you can see other interesting animals like zebras, lions, wild dogs, pythons, hartebeest, wildebeest, elephants, impala, warthog, eland and other antelopes.
DAY 6: DRIVE TO THE RUAHA NATIONAL PARK
After early morning breakfast we will leave Mikumi with to Ruaha National Park.From Mikumi the road ascent along the Great Ruaha River up on the high plateau where the city Iringa is situated. Stop in Iringa for lunch and visit the local market. In the late afternoon you will arrive in the Safari Lodge or Tented Camp for dinner and overnight.
DAY 7: RUAHA NATIONAL PARK
One full day game driving with picnic lunches, Ruaha has an area of 10,300sq.km, and is the largest park, and second largest elephant sanctuary in Tanzania. The great Ruaha River that flows along its entire eastern border creates spectacular gorges and scenery, and features a large number of hippos and crocodiles. The wide variety of animals that inhabit the park include both Greater and Lesser Kudu, roan and sable antelope. Bird life is also rich, with over 370 species recorded. Dinner and overnightat your Lodge or Tented Camp.
DAY 8: RUAHA – DAR ES SALAAM
After enjoying your breakfast in the morning, drive back to Dar es salaam for the drop off at your Hotel or airport.
