Udzungwa Mountains National Park is one of Africa’s finest rainforest wildlife destinations, best known for its endemic primates, rare forest mammals and exceptional biodiversity. Wildlife encounters focus on guided forest walks rather than traditional game drives. It is the only national park in Tanzania where hiking is the primary way to experience wildlife.
Towering mountains, ancient rainforests, dramatic valleys and the spectacular Sanje Waterfalls create one of Tanzania’s most scenic national parks. Every trail reveals breathtaking views and pristine natural beauty. The Eastern Arc Mountains make this one of the world’s most important biodiversity hotspots.
Discover Udzungwa on guided rainforest hikes, waterfall treks, primate tracking, birdwatching and nature walks. The park offers an authentic walking safari experience in one of Africa’s richest mountain forests. Trails range from short scenic walks to challenging full-day mountain hikes.
Udzungwa has a warm tropical mountain climate throughout the year. Dry months provide the best hiking conditions, while the rainy season brings lush forests, flowing waterfalls and outstanding birdwatching opportunities. Temperatures vary with altitude, making higher elevations noticeably cooler than the lowlands.
