This evening, unwind and immerse yourself in the tranquil surroundings, preparing for the exciting journey ahead. Rest and rejuvenate as you prepare to begin your private safari the next day.
Arusha City

After breakfast, venture into the wild as your Hola Africa guide drives you to Tarangire National Park, a hidden gem known for its giant baobab trees and large elephant herds. As you explore this vast park, you’ll witness the park’s rich biodiversity, from antelopes and giraffes to predators like lions and leopards. The Tarangire River is a magnet for wildlife, especially during the dry season, ensuring thrilling sightings. As the sun sets, return to a mid-range tented camp where you’ll enjoy dinner under the stars and fall asleep to the sounds of the African wilderness.

Your adventure begins with an early wake-up call and a hearty breakfast to fuel you for the day ahead. You will start the morning with a guided walking tour, allowing you to experience the diverse flora and fauna of Tarangire National Park up close. Afterwards, continue with a game drive through this renowned wildlife haven, famous for its large elephant herds, often seen grazing beneath the iconic baobab trees.
In addition to elephants, Tarangire is home to a wide array of wildlife, including zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, and several antelope species, all attracted to the park’s life-giving river. Birdwatchers will be thrilled by the impressive birdlife, with over 550 species recorded, making it one of Tanzania’s most prosperous birding destinations. During the midday pause, enjoy a well-prepared packed lunch in the park's serene natural surroundings before resuming your game drive. As the sun sets, return to your lodge, where a delightful dinner awaits. This is the perfect end to a day immersed in the wonders of the African wilderness.

Today, your safari adventure continues as you travel to the world-renowned Serengeti National Park, passing through the scenic Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Famous for its vast, open plains and abundant wildlife, the Serengeti offers one of the most iconic landscapes in Africa, often featured in nature documentaries.
The annual wildebeest migration is one of the park’s most unforgettable natural phenomena. Over a million wildebeest, accompanied by zebras and gazelles, move in a thundering mass across the Serengeti’s endless plains. This spectacular journey is a must-see event for any wildlife enthusiast. On your way to the Serengeti, enjoy a relaxing lunch break. By evening, you will arrive at your lodge or camp, where you can unwind after a day of exploration. A delicious dinner will be served as you relax, enveloped in the peace and tranquillity of the African wilderness.

Start your day in the heart of the Serengeti, ready for a full day of exploration. With your private guide and a packed lunch, you will journey across the vast plains, seeking the iconic wildebeest herds as they embark on their legendary migration. Beyond the migration spectacle, the Serengeti teems with diverse wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, and various other species.
From July to October, witness the dramatic crossings of the Mara River in the northern Serengeti. Between January and March, experience the wonder of the calving season in the southern Serengeti and Ndutu areas. During other times of the year, enjoy the unique wildlife spectacles the central Serengeti offers. Return to your camp for an evening of relaxation as the day ends. Savoir a delicious dinner and enjoy stories around the campfire before retreating for a peaceful night in the African wilderness.

Begin your day with an unforgettable choice: either soar above the Serengeti in a breathtaking hot air balloon (available at an additional cost) or embark on a thrilling full-day game drive. Witness the grandeur of the Great Migration as millions of wildebeests and zebras traverse the plains in an awe-inspiring spectacle. Keep a lookout for the Big Cats—lions, leopards, and cheetahs—as they follow the herds.
Immerse yourself in the Serengeti's vibrant ecosystem, observing elephants, buffalo, hartebeest, eland, giraffes, and other fascinating species. As the sun sets, return to your camp for a delightful dinner and a peaceful night’s rest, surrounded by the Serengeti's serene wilderness.

After enjoying a morning game drive in Serengeti and a packed lunch, you will set off for the remarkable Ngorongoro Conservation Area in the afternoon. This ancient natural wonder, formed by a massive volcanic eruption over two million years ago, is one of Africa’s most iconic landscapes. Upon arrival at your lodge, take some time to unwind and enjoy a delightful dinner. Prepare for the next day’s adventure, which promises exceptional wildlife viewing in the world-famous crater.

After breakfast, descend into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater for an unforgettable game drive, with a scenic stop for lunch. This ancient caldera, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is home to an astonishing variety of wildlife, including lions, zebras, buffaloes, and the elusive black rhino. As you explore the crater floor, you’ll experience the beauty of this unique ecosystem, where animals roam freely against the dramatic backdrop of the crater’s towering walls. After your day of remarkable wildlife encounters, your guide will transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey.

We highly recommend obtaining your visa in advance to ensure a smooth entry process. While visas can be acquired upon arrival in Tanzania, limited airport staffing often results in significant delays, sometimes exceeding an hour. Given the dynamic nature of visa regulations, outdated forms may lead to unnecessary complications during processing.
For added security, we advise making two copies of all essential travel documents, including the photo page of your passport with issuance and expiration details. Keep one set securely stored in your accommodation’s safe and leave another with a trusted contact at home to assist in case of loss or theft.
As travel increasingly relies on digital platforms, many destinations, including Tanzania, require proof of online submissions, such as QR codes or confirmation emails. To streamline your journey and avoid disruptions, we strongly encourage travellers to carry a smartphone and activate an international data plan to stay connected and well-prepared throughout their travels.
Essential Guidelines for Traveling with Children as a Guardian
Proper documentation is crucial to ensure a seamless journey when travelling internationally with children as their guardians. We highly recommend carrying a signed authorisation letter from both parents granting permission for emergency medical care in case of illness or injury. This precaution is essential as many countries enforce strict entry requirements for children under 21 travelling without both parents, prioritising the safety and security of minors.
Important Advisory: Hola Africa Ltd cannot be held responsible for travel interruptions caused by incomplete or incorrect documentation. Please ensure all necessary documents are prepared and compliant with the destination’s regulations to avoid disruptions. Let us assist you in making your journey stress-free and memorable.

Travel Assurance Plan
To ensure a secure and worry-free travel experience, we strongly recommend that all travellers booking safaris with Hola Africa Ltd obtain comprehensive travel insurance. Such coverage protects your trip investment and offers peace of mind against unexpected events. Selecting a policy that includes “cancel for any reason” protection for optimal flexibility is essential.
Key Travel Insurance Benefits
When purchasing travel insurance, review the policy to confirm it includes the following key benefits tailored for travel and safaris:
- Trip Cancellation: If you need to cancel your trip, including flights, for a covered reason, you will be reimbursed the cost of your trip. This ensures your travel investment is protected.
- Trip Interruption: This coverage covers expenses if you must end your trip early for a valid reason, including costs to return home or rejoin your tour.
- Travel Delays: This policy provides compensation for missed prepaid arrangements caused by delays due to weather, strikes, airline disruptions, or other specified reasons.

- Baggage and Personal Belongings: This policy protects against the loss, theft, damage, or delay of your luggage or personal items, minimizing inconvenience during your travels.
- Emergency Assistance Services: This service offers 24/7 access to medical and travel-related emergency support, ensuring help is always just a phone call away.
Key Notes:
The client must arrange Travel insurance policies independently through a trusted provider in their home country.
We highly recommend securing insurance coverage immediately after confirming your safari booking and submitting your deposit to ensure full protection.
Cancellation Policy
In the event that you need to cancel your holiday, it is mandatory to provide formal written notification. Cancellations will only be valid once we receive and acknowledge your written communication.
Please be advised that deposits and any amendment charges associated with your booking are strictly non-refundable. Furthermore, cancellation fees will be assessed based on the timing of your notice relative to your departure date, as outlined below:

- Cancellation 60–45 days before departure: 50% of the booking amount forfeited.
- Cancellation less than 45 days before departure: 100% of the booking amount forfeited.
Regardless of the reason, cancellations result in unavoidable costs from our travel and accommodation partners, including penalties and fees for confirmed bookings. The specific terms of the tour or package selected determine these charges.
We strongly recommend securing comprehensive travel insurance to protect against the financial implications of unforeseen cancellations. Should your cancellation fall within the coverage parameters of your travel insurance policy, you may be eligible to recover certain charges directly from your insurance provider. However, please note that domestic airline tickets issued by us are non-refundable after purchase under any circumstances.
Failure to appear for your scheduled departure or to join the safari after the commencement date will result in the forfeiture of the entire booking amount. The date of cancellation will be considered as the date we receive your written notice at our designated office: Mgeni Nani, Mtoni Kijichi, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
In circumstances beyond our control, such as force majeure events, Hola Africa Ltd reserves the right to revise the cancellation terms outlined herein to accommodate exceptional situations.

Airfare
Airfare to and from your destination is not included in the tour package. If you choose to book flights independently, please provide us with your confirmed arrival and departure details at least three weeks before your travel date to ensure seamless arrangements.
Hola Africa Ltd Airport Transfers
Complimentary airport transfers between the airport and your Hola Africa Ltd hotel are included at the start and end of your journey. Transfers are also available for pre-and post-tour hotel stays that are directly consecutive to your tour, provided we receive your flight details no later than three weeks in advance. Your final travel documents will include clear instructions for locating your transfer upon arrival in the starting city.
Airlines and Luggage Policies
To enhance your travel experience, we kindly request that guests limit their checked luggage to one standard-sized suitcase. In addition to complying with Hola Africa Ltd’s guidelines, you must review and adhere to airline-specific baggage policies, which can vary and may change without notice. Failure to comply with these policies could result in additional fees or travel disruptions, for which Hola Africa Ltd cannot assume responsibility.
For tours involving internal flights, please note that luggage weight restrictions for these flights may be stricter than those for your international journey. Adhering to these limits is essential to ensure a smooth travel experience.
To streamline packing, we recommend bringing a specially designed safari duffel bag. This soft-sided luggage accommodates safari vehicles’ and on-tour flights’ unique storage requirements. Each guest is permitted one soft-sided piece of luggage, with a maximum weight of 33 pounds (14.97 kilograms), including camera equipment. Additionally, one small soft-sided carry-on bag is allowed, weighing no more than 15 pounds (6.8 kilograms) and no larger than a standard backpack.
General Checked Luggage Guidelines
Guests may bring one checked suitcase per person, not exceeding 44 pounds (20 kilograms) in weight or 62 inches (158 cm) in combined dimensions (length + width + height). Airlines may impose steep fees or restrictions for oversized or overweight luggage. We recommend verifying baggage policies for all flights in advance to avoid potential issues.
General Carry-on Luggage Guidelines
Compact, soft-sided carry-ons are recommended for safari travel over rigid or wheeled luggage, as safari vehicles offer limited storage space. Items stored under seats should be small enough to hold essentials such as medications, valuables, cameras, and personal items. Larger carry-ons will be stored in the luggage truck and may not be accessible during daytime travel.
Health, Safety, and Mobility Guidelines
Health Considerations
Before embarking on your journey, verify your health insurance coverage while travelling internationally. If your current policy does not provide coverage abroad, we strongly recommend securing comprehensive travel insurance to ensure peace of mind during your adventure.
Vaccination Requirements and Recommendations
Certain countries on this itinerary may require proof of vaccination for entry. These requirements can change frequently due to regional health developments and without notice, so staying informed is essential. Hence, you have the most up-to-date information before your departure.
Yellow Fever Vaccination Guidelines
While Hola Africa Ltd does not mandate proof of Yellow Fever vaccination, it is strongly recommended that guests travelling to Tanzania carry official documentation confirming vaccination or a medical exemption letter from a licensed physician. Regulations regarding Yellow Fever vaccination can change frequently and may depend on the countries you transit through or visit. Staying informed and compliant with these requirements ensures a smooth travel experience and avoids potential disruptions.
For the latest and most reliable information, consult trusted sources such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), or the countries’ embassies in your itinerary. These resources provide up-to-date details on entry requirements, health advisories, and any additional precautions you should consider.
To prepare adequately, schedule a consultation with your physician at least 4 to 6 weeks before departure. This timeframe allows sufficient time for vaccinations to become effective and ensures you receive the appropriate documentation. Carry your proof of vaccination or exemption in your hand luggage for easy access, as it may be required for entry at specific border points. Failure to comply with these regulations could result in denied entry, quarantine, or additional expenses, so careful preparation is strongly advised.
Special Dietary Requests
While we strive to accommodate dietary preferences, the ability to do so depends on the resources available at specific venues. From boutique wineries to renowned restaurants, our partners vary in their ability to handle specialised requests. In instances where accommodations are possible, menu options may be limited.
Mobility Considerations
A safari in Africa is an extraordinary adventure requiring physical readiness. While extensive walking is not a feature of this tour, expect uneven terrain, warm weather, and activities such as climbing in and out of safari vehicles. For guests selecting air transfer upgrades, flights operate on small propeller planes seating 18-50 passengers. Travelers with mobility limitations or those relying on oxygen tanks may find the experience challenging.
Safari Vehicle and Terrain Requirements
Safari vehicles are designed for wildlife viewing and have six window seats and pop-up roofs but are not typically air-conditioned. Travel involves unpaved, dusty roads, making for an authentic but occasionally bumpy experience. Guests rotate guides, vehicles, and seats to ensure fairness. Please note that medical facilities are limited, and private vehicle arrangements cannot be guaranteed for special needs.
Hot Air Balloon Adventure
The hot air balloon ride, a tour highlight, offers a breathtaking perspective of Africa’s landscapes. The minimum age for participation is seven years, with no upper age limit. Guests must be mobile, fit to fly, and ready for an adventure. Balloon weight limits are based on an average of 176 lbs (80 kg) per person. Those exceeding 265 lbs (120 kg) may incur additional charges.
Oxygen and Mobility Limitations
Due to logistical constraints, this itinerary cannot accommodate oxygen tanks, wheelchairs, or motorised scooters. Small regional aircraft prohibit oxygen tanks, and infrastructure in remote areas often presents significant challenges for those with mobility issues.
A non-disabled companion must accompany travellers requiring individual assistance. While our guides and directors are committed to ensuring an enjoyable experience, they cannot provide personalised care throughout the journey.

Weather in East Africa
East Africa enjoys a pleasant climate year-round, making it an ideal destination for travellers at any time. Days are generally warm and sunny, with temperatures ranging from 60°F to 95°F (15.5°C to 35°C). Nights are cool and refreshing, often dropping to 50°F to 60°F (10°C to 15.5°C), providing a comfortable balance to the day’s warmth.
The region experiences two rainy seasons that add to its natural allure. The long rains, occurring from March to May, bring occasional afternoon showers that rejuvenate the landscapes. The short rains, from October to December, feature brief, refreshing showers, often in the late afternoon. Despite the rain, these periods retain charm, with vibrant greenery and fewer crowds enhancing the safari experience.
Spring months are particularly appealing for travellers seeking verdant scenery and serene surroundings. The seasonal rains are usually short-lived, ensuring that activities and explorations remain primarily uninterrupted.
We recommend checking reliable online sources for the latest weather updates before your trip.
Your Ultimate Safari Packing Guide
Plastic Bag Regulations
Tanzania prohibits single-use plastic bags (excluding small Ziploc bags) to combat environmental issues. To avoid penalties, ensure your luggage complies with this regulation. Inspect all bags to remove any forgotten plastic items.
Clothing Essentials
Safari attire is all about comfort and practicality. Lightweight, breathable, and versatile clothing works best for the varied climates you’ll encounter. Earth tones such as khaki, beige, and olive are highly recommended to blend with nature and minimise attention from insects. Avoid navy blue and black, which can attract biting tsetse flies. Include:
- Lightweight shirts (long and short-sleeved)
- Convertible pants or shorts
- A fleece or windbreaker for cool mornings and evenings
- Comfortable walking shoes or sneakers
- A hat, scarf, and swimsuit
Pack a warm sweater, gloves, and a knit hat for colder months (June–August) or high-elevation areas like Ngorongoro Crater. Laundry services are widely available for convenience.
Day Pack Must-Haves
Prepare for game drives and excursions with these essentials:
- Sunglasses, sunscreen, and lip balm
- Insect repellent (preferably DEET wipes)
- Hand sanitiser and facial cleansing wipes
- A camera with extra batteries and memory cards
- Notebook, pen, and lightweight snacks
- Travel wallet for passport and cash
Medical and Personal Kit
A well-stocked medical kit ensures you’re prepared for any minor inconveniences. Include:
- Prescription medications with a doctor’s note for emergency refills
- Pain relievers, antidiarrheal tablets, and allergy medication
- Antibacterial cream, insect bite ointment, and adhesive bandages
- Multi-vitamins and stomach remedies (e.g., Pepto-Bismol)
- Travel-size antibacterial lotion and towelettes
Additional Essentials
For a seamless journey, consider packing these additional items:
- A flashlight or small, battery-operated fan for comfort
- UK plug adapter for charging electronic devices
- Lightweight reading material, playing cards, or a travel journal
- Ziploc bags for toiletries, electronics, and trash disposal
- Extra glasses or contact lenses for dusty conditions
Luggage Guidelines
Internal flights in East Africa often restrict baggage to 33 lbs (15 kg) per person, including carry-ons. Use soft-sided bags no more significant than 14.5 x 27 inches to fit bush plane cargo holds. Excess luggage can be stored securely at offices in Arusha or Nairobi and retrieved after your safari.
Pro Tip: Keep valuables, critical items (medications,) and a change of clothes in your carry-on to mitigate risks of delayed or lost luggage. For photographers with heavy gear, consider booking an extra seat to avoid baggage constraints. Consider a lightweight duffel for flexibility, and mark checked bags with colourful tags for easy identification.
For Zanzibar Visitors
Zanzibar’s modest culture requires respectful dress away from beach resorts. Women should wear knee-length skirts or pants and avoid sleeveless tops, while men should opt for shirts and knee-length shorts. During Ramadan, avoid eating or drinking in public out of respect for local customs.
Packing Tips for Safari Comfort
- Pack lightweight, moisture-wicking clothing with UV protection for maximum comfort.
- Carry a photocopy of your passport in a separate bag or save a digital copy for emergencies.
- Use colorful luggage tags for easy identification.
- If your journey involves rough roads, a sports bra is recommended for women for additional comfort.
By preparing thoughtfully, you’ll ensure a smooth and unforgettable safari adventure.
